Merit Grinding Checklist
- Equip a ship with a strong combat outfit (you can read more about combat basics, and outfitting here on the site, under the Combat Guide topic)
- Make sure to buy a Frame Shift Interdictor module. You will use these to pull enemy couriers and agents out of supercruise.
- Get into galaxy map, and select the Powerplay display mode.
- Find your faction's opposing power, and highlight it on the map. (Empire and Federation are at each other's throats, while the Alliance is mostly tolerated by both.)
- Look for a Control system, and plot a course to it.
- When you arrive, stay in supercruise, and look for couriers and agents of the enemy faction.
- Interdict them, and attack them. Try to dispose of them as soon as possible, as they will attempt to flee combat as soon as they're able.
